When you’re hypersensitive and overstimulated, your nervous system is basically the DJ of your chaos. After doing Jeffrey Allen’s Duality course, I was hungry for more. It had already helped me so much in calming my hypersensitive body—one that’s been shaped by childhood trauma, chronic Epstein-Barr, and EMF sensitivity. So when I found out about the Silva Method through the same platform (Mindvalley), I got curious. The kind of curious that whispers, this might shift something.
I first picked up the book version, since there’s still a Silva classic floating around. And in the book, José Silva writes something that hit me right in the gut:
“If you feel that nothing happened during this first exercise, it simply means you have been in alpha many times before without being particularly aware of it.”
That was me. Nothing dramatic happened during my first attempt—and yet, that sentence confirmed what I had always suspected: I naturally dip into Alpha. I’ve always known I’m highly intuitive, but I’ve never been taught how to navigate that intuitive scale. This felt like the beginning of that.
I read the book more than once, but I still wanted more. So I signed up for the modern, updated version on Mindvalley: the Silva Ultramind System, taught by Vishen Lakhiani.
Who Was José Silva?
José Silva was an electronics repairman with a deep interest in psychology, brainwaves, and the human potential. He believed that the mind, when trained, could be used for far more than basic survival—it could heal the body, sharpen intuition, solve problems, and even tap into higher levels of consciousness. The Silva Method was his life’s work—a practical, repeatable system to help people harness the power of their brainwaves to improve every area of life.
What the Silva Method Actually Does (Like, Neurologically Speaking)
This isn’t just another “close your eyes and relax” kind of method. It’s based on real brainwave science, and here’s how it works:
1. Alpha and Theta Brainwave Activation
The Silva Method puts you in an alpha (and sometimes theta) state—brainwave states connected to deep relaxation, intuition, and creativity.
By spending more time in these frequencies, I’ve trained my brain to operate from a calmer, more focused baseline instead of the high-beta chaos that stress and trauma trained me into.
2. Reconditioning My Stress Response
Let’s be real: my system was wired to panic. Between EMF sensitivity, post-viral fatigue, and old trauma loops, I was like a walking siren.
Now, through Silva meditations, I teach my nervous system that it’s safe. That it doesn’t need to respond with cortisol, adrenaline, or a total shut-down every time I get stimulated. Huge shift.
3. Strengthening My Mind-Body Connection
The more I visualize healing, the more my brain seems to prioritize balance over burnout. I’m literally creating a new default: one where healing and flow come first. One where I don’t need to crash just to rest.
4. Neuroplasticity in Action
Every Silva practice I do is a repetition—one that’s strengthening new neural pathways. Calm is becoming my natural state, not the exception. My brain is learning to be efficient, intuitive, and less reactive to overstimulation.
It teaches you how to visualize, how to reprogram limiting thoughts, and how to communicate with your subconscious. The moment you reach what they call your level, you access your personal control room. It’s where clarity, intuition, and calm live. It’s where you begin to be, not just survive. And for me, it’s also been about aligning with the right frequency—to create the life I actually want.
Psychometry: The Wild Surprise
During the course, you’re guided through an exercise called psychometry—where you hold an object and try to tune in to intuitive impressions it holds. I did this with a friend. I couldn’t see what the object was, but I described: woods, nature, fall, a grandmother, and the color red.
It turned out to be a Sagittarius pendant that belonged to her grandmother.
I was floored. It was my first time doing psychometry—and I nailed it. Another moment where I realized: my intuition has always been there. I just needed tools to trust it.
The 3 Most Important Questions: A Life Compass
One of the bonus exercises (and available on youtube) in the Ultramind course is a powerful journaling technique by Vishen himself called: The 3 Most Important Questions.
This exercise helped me clarify what I want to experience, how I want to grow, and how I want to contribute. Spoiler: it got me thinking way bigger than I had allowed myself before. Hello, future bestselling book.
The Video Technique: Solving Real-Life Problems
Another gem: the Video Technique, a method to problem-solve by visualizing the issue and the ideal outcome. I used it when I needed compensation for a new pair of expensive screen glasses.
I had already spent money on regular glasses, and this felt like a mountain. So I did the visualization… and let it go.
A few days later? I got the email. Compensation approved. 💸
What I Still Use Daily
Even now, I use Silva practices regularly.
- The three screens method for healing
- The relaxation meditation to keep my nervous system stable
- Visualization to communicate with my subconscious
- And a sense of calm I’ve never had before
Healing Is A Soft Revolution
“I used to live on high alert. Now I live on high intention.”
This method didn’t “fix” me overnight. But it helped me return to myself—the version of me that isn’t overwhelmed by noise, fear, or exhaustion.
It helped me remember that healing doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes, it’s just quiet progress, one calm Alpha wave at a time.
And I’m so proud to now say—I’m a Silva graduate. This practice is no longer just a method. It’s part of my life.
Final note: Whether you’re healing, exploring your intuition, or simply looking for more clarity and calm in your daily life, I wholeheartedly recommend the Silva Ultramind Method. This isn’t just for the burned-out or the energetically sensitive—this is for everyone who wants to live in tune with the right frequency.
