Let’s be real—menstruation is no walk in the park. But when you’re post-viral, it can feel like leveling up in the worst boss battle ever. The fatigue doubles down, the cramps feel sharper, and your energy tank hits empty even faster. It’s a monthly reminder that your body is still recalibrating, still finding its way back to balance.
But if there’s one thing I’ve learned on this healing journey, it’s the power of self-care and self-compassion. On those particularly heavy days, I lean into my go-to ally: shatavari. This Ayurvedic gem has been a game-changer for managing cramps and supporting my hormones. It’s like a warm, nurturing hug from nature—exactly what my body craves. (Bonus you can make a Shatavari Latte, yes!)
Self-care during these times is all about listening to your body and giving it what it needs. For me, that often looks like a cozy yin yoga session, a warm bath, or even box breathing to ease the tension. These rituals aren’t just about managing physical discomfort—they’re about creating a safe, sacred space for my body to heal and recharge.
Menstruation, like post-viral recovery, isn’t linear. Some months will be tougher than others, and that’s okay. What matters most is showing up for yourself, tuning into your body’s whispers, and meeting those challenges with kindness.
Update: A Sign of Healing — My Cycle and Feminine Energy Are Returning to Balance
After months — even years — of intense, heavy, and emotionally exhausting menstrual cycles, I’m finally seeing clear signs that my body is entering a phase of real healing. This last cycle lasted five days, with fresh red blood, which may seem small, but to me, it’s huge. It’s a sign that my womb is functioning properly again and that my system is slowly coming back into balance.
Another deeply emotional shift: the volume in my breasts is returning. After trauma, my body had been in survival mode for so long that it literally shut down many feminine processes — my curves, my cycle, my softness. I had lost volume in my breasts, and my menstruation felt like a battle every month. But now, as my body enters a more restful, regulated state, I can feel my feminine energy being reactivated.
From hormone regulation to the shape of my body returning, these physical signs are telling me that my system finally feels safe again — safe enough to soften, to open, and to heal on a deep level.
