How Human Design Is Confirming the Things I Thought Were “Wrong” With Me

This past month I received a birthday gift that feels like a love letter from the universe: a Human Design book. Not just any book, but a beautifully written, deep-diving, soul-whispering one, and I’m letting it land.

My mom ordered it for me, and I added a little of my own energy to complete it, Generator style. It comes from Clenda Moen, a site I already felt a soul connection with. I had generated my chart there a while ago but never took the deep dive. Until now.

This isn’t just a book. It’s a mirror, and a permission slip.

Where I started

Before this, I had begun decoding myself through the TimeNomad app, which explores astrology, transits and planetary alignments. That was the start of my own little biohacking adventure: peeling back the layers of my chart, my patterns, my timing. Human Design feels like the next chapter of the same story. Another tool in the toolbox. Another way of remembering who I was before the world told me who to be.

What is Human Design, and why does it feel like being seen?

Human Design is a modern system. Its founder, Ra Uru Hu, received the information in 1987 during an eight-day experience on Ibiza (yes, really). It brings together Western astrology, the I Ching, the chakra system and Kabbalah, alongside modern sciences like genetics, biochemistry, astronomy and quantum physics, to create your energetic blueprint.

It also uses two moments in time: your birth moment (what you’re consciously aware of) and a calculated moment about 88 days before birth (what works beneath your awareness). That’s one of the things that sets it apart from astrology.

At its core, Human Design offers a map for the moments you thought you were broken. For me, it has been an answer to many of them. It suggests that you weren’t malfunctioning, you were running software that no one around you could read.

It describes how your energy works: how you’re designed to make decisions, interact with others, respond to life, and even digest your food (yes, literally, more on that in a later post).

Astrology gives you a cosmic roadmap. Human Design shows you the wiring of the vehicle you’re driving. One isn’t better than the other. Together, they feel like soul and system finally having a conversation.

What struck me most

Right away, the book began to confirm things I had always sensed but never fully understood. Things I assumed were:

  • trauma adaptations
  • emotional quirks
  • personal flaws
  • nervous system glitches

…may actually be part of how I’m wired. Not broken. Not dysfunctional. Just different. Just me. (I’m exploring this gently alongside my nervous system work, not instead of it.)

Here’s what started to click:

  • My need to respond rather than initiate. As a Generator, my strategy is to respond. Life brings the question, and my body answers.
  • My body answering before my mind catches up. I’m an emotional Generator, so I’ve learned that my first response is an indication, and my clarity comes after I give it time.
  • Frustration. When it hits like a brick wall, I now read it as information: a sign I said yes somewhere my body meant no. The flip side is satisfaction, the feeling when my energy is truly engaged in what I love.
  • Needing grounding like air. And my body asking for warm food to feel safe and calm. That one is my own lived experience, and I’m curious to see how it connects to my design.

This isn’t a coincidence to me. It feels like finally having language for what my body has been telling me all along.

The series

Starting soon, I’ll share posts here on the blog, unpacking what I’m discovering and how it connects to:

  • my sensitivity
  • my EMF awareness
  • my blood type and food rhythm
  • my nervous system patterns
  • my post-viral journey
  • my daily life as a Generator with emotional authority

I’m a student of Human Design, sharing what I’m learning and how it lands in my own life. I’m not decoding your chart here, I’m living mine, and watching it start to make sense.

If you’ve ever felt that your way of being didn’t quite fit the “normal” world, maybe this will speak to something in you, too.

Where I got my book

I got my book from Clenda Moen, who offers both an e-book and a printed version. I chose print, because this kind of wisdom deserves to be held in your hands, flipped through slowly, and underlined with tea stains and sighs.

If you’re curious about your own design, you can generate your chart for free on her website. Even just reading about my own type, authority, digestion and more has felt deeply validating.

Next time, I’ll share why grounding is essential for me.

For now: if you’ve ever felt like you’re doing life “wrong,” maybe you’ve just been living off-design. Here’s to remembering who we actually are, one Generator ping at a time. 💛

About the author
I’m Tani, an Indigo Human Design Coach based in Amsterdam. My clarity comes from lived experience with EHS and post-viral fatigue, not from theory. Today I bring that together with Human Design and nervous system awareness. This space exists for the ones who feel things deeply, who sense what others miss, and who are done being told it’s all in their head.

The Indigo Healing Guide

Fifteen years of living with Epstein-Barr, post-viral fatigue, and quantum sensitivity — distilled into the guide I desperately needed and couldn’t find anywhere. Part memoir, part manual. Written for anyone navigating the invisible gaps where medicine ends and embodied wisdom begins. I made it because I needed it. And because you might too.
